Rimbault Pottery Studio |
The
Anne Rimbault Pottery Studio, home of pottery lessons,
commissions and pottery team building workshops.
We are conveniently located in Bordeaux with easy
access to Sandton, Bryanston and the Northern Suburbs.
Anne Rimbault is a qualified potter and is a member of Ceramics Southern Africa.
She has been teaching pottery for twenty-five years, starting at the Braamfontein
Recreation Centre in the late Seventies, then in her own studio in Parktown North.
For the last seventeen years, Anne has been running a teaching studio from her
home in Bordeaux, Randburg. Some of the original students are still with the
studio, and are producing beautiful pottery of a high standard. Some current
students are also exhibiting and selling their work. We have both morning and
evening classes.
Team Building Workshops:
Explore your team’s dynamics in our world of clay. Join us for a few hours
of creative fun in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Get messy, unleash your
creativity. Throw a pot on the wheel from wet clay or paint ready-made pottery.
No previous potting experience is necessary, participants with varied interests,
backgrounds and capabilities produce unique, usable pottery. The workshops are
excellent for enhancing communications and team building.
Anne Rimbault runs the workshops. A qualified potter who has been teaching for
over twenty years and holds weekly classes, she regularly works on commissions,
ranging from hand-made dinnerware, tagines and platters to basins. Anne is a
member of Ceramics Southern Africa.
The workshops are designed to encourage participation and can be customized to
suit. They are relaxed and flexible. We usually spend 1½ hours throwing
on the wheel and 1½ hours decorating ready-made biscware, with an hour’s
break for lunch. All clay, paint, materials and equipment will be supplied. Pots
that are created in the workshop will be finished, glazed and fired by studio
staff. They’ll be ready for collection after 2-4 weeks. We can accommodate
6-18 participants per session.
A light lunch or dinner can be provided. Cooldrinks, tea and coffee are included
and you’re welcome to bring your own drinks.
Workshops held on:
Monday or Friday evening 5:30 - 9:30pm
Thursday, Friday or Saturday, any time between 8am - 4pm
Advance booking is essential. A 50% non-refundable deposit secures your booking.
Please bring an apron or old shirt and wear clothes that you don’t mind
getting a little messy.
Pottery Classes:
Join the pottery studio for therapeutic weekly morning or evening sessions in
a relaxed and friendly environment. Play with clay and explore your creativity,
while learning a craft and meeting new fellow potters. Feel the softness of the
clay. Get messy, and make something to take home and use. No previous experience
necessary.
Handwork consists of pinching, coiling, slabbing and sculpture if you’d
like to try it. You can make your own platters, bowls, planters, lamps and candleholders.
There are 8 potter’s wheels, a pugmill and 3 electric kilns. For decorating,
there are endless ideas and techniques, from slips, carving, sgraffito, oxides,
underglazes and glazes. |
